Toby Keith Honored With BMI Icon Award In Nashville

Hundreds of songwriters, publishers, and country music artists gathered in Nashville Tuesday night - to celebrate those who write the songs.

BMI or Broadcast Music Inc, is a performance rights organization that licenses the use of music, then collects and distributes royalties to its songwriters and publishers.

On Tuesday night, at its 2022 Country Awards in Nashville, BMI paid tribute to the creative forces behind some of country music’s recent big hits like Keith Urban’s “Wild Hearts,” Miranda Lambert’s “If I Was a Cowboy,” Walker Hayes “Fancy Like,” Elvie Shane’s “My Boy,” and many, many others.

But one of the biggest awards of the night would go to Toby Keith – the 2022 BMI Icon Award. It’s an honor with a prestigious class of legacy artists like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and more.
