“We are excited to have this incredible eatery and entertainment venue in our community.” Mesa Mayor Scott Smith said, “This is fast becoming, and will continue to be, a destination for Arizonans and visitors to the valley and state. We were honored to have Toby here today as part of this celebration.”
The restaurant provides live music and dancing; 50 HDTV monitors for viewing sporting events; “Toby,” a mechanical bull; and home-cooked Southern style fare with friends. The centerpiece of the restaurant is the 85-foot guitar-shaped bar. There are two VIP rooms and an exclusive private dining room available for rental as well as a large stage with a bigger-than-life mural of Toby Keith as a back drop. And just as the song says, there is never a cover charge.
Toby played an integral role in the design and concept of the restaurant from hand-selecting the distinct pinewood walls to ensuring the signature bar was outfitted in rusted, corrugated metal - all of it emblemizing the original “bar” in his hit song that served as inspiration behind the chain. Several components throughout the venue are named after lyrics in Toby Keith’s songs from restrooms named Whiskey Girl and Big Dog Daddy to the female wait staff referred to as “whiskey girls” wearing their “hottie” shirts, a reference from his hit song “She’s a Hottie”.
The kick-off grand opening event included a hundred active military and veteran soldiers who received private invitations for the party donated to the Veteran Tickets Foundation by The Capri Restaurant Group, owner of the restaurant. The restaurant, consistent with other Toby Keith’s eating establishments, offers a one-time meal deal in honor of the men and women who serve our country so courageously, free of charge, to active military personnel and veterans with valid military identification. The special includes an American Soldier burger, choice of side, and a non-alcoholic beverage.
“We want our soldiers to know there is a place where they are appreciated for what they have done, and continue to do, for this country.” Capri said, “We look forward to serving them and thanking them for that service.”
The official grand opening celebration will continue through Sunday with live music and drink specials Thursday thru Saturday nights from 9:00pm to 1:30am. There will also be menu specials Thursday thru Sunday including breakfast on Saturday and Sunday starting at 7:00am.
